It's so frustrationg, distressing and demoralizing to realize that we humans as the dominant and abusive race have been avoiding this catastrophic issue for so long.

If there is no massive changes (and it doesn't seem like there will be any, at least in the meantime) things will keep escalating at paces even the worst case-scenaio predictions didn't predict.
