Core Strength and Writing Creativity with Handstand Holds
From increased strength and balance to seeing things from a different perspective and improved mental clarity.
Picture this: I’m at a family gathering, minding my own business, when my 7-year-old niece decides to challenge me to a handstand hold competition. Being the competitive person I am, I couldn’t resist. I laughed it off and thought to myself, “What a cute little girl, thinking she can take on her dear uncle.”
Oh boy, was I in for a rude awakening!
I couldn’t even hold a half-handstand against the wall for more than a few seconds without collapsing like a pile of wet noodles. It was humiliating, to say the least.
My niece, on the other hand, was a pro (or at least, she looked like one compared to me).
At first, I was embarrassed. Here I am, a grown adult, getting schooled by a 7-year-old. But then I thought, “You know what, this is just the motivation I need.” So, I started incorporating handstands into my writing routine, using the Tabata timer method (because, let’s be real, I need all the structure I can get).
It wasn’t easy. There were many times when I fell flat on my face and felt like giving up, but I kept pushing myself to try again…
