“We can offer you a 5% raise. Congratulations!”

The offer hit me like a ton of bricks.

To tell the truth, I nearly started crying.

It was a slap in the face for all my hard work.

I responded, shouting inside my head, “Do you think I’m stupid?”.

I knew I deserved more, considering my tangible contribution to the company’s success. I had been driving growth and exceeding targets, delivering value that went above and beyond my job description, innovating, and bringing new priceless connections to the map.

A measly 5%.

Those words made me realize my worth was not being recognized.

But I didn’t know how to justify it.

It was time to go digging.

The Two Types of Jobs

Jobs can be divided into operational and creative roles. No matter the industry.

But I’ll give examples of the Tourism Industry. They come in handy.
