The Great Paradox of Modern Times: Productivity vs. The Rise of AI
The Race Against the Machine is ON
Back in 1964, Isaac Asimov predicted:
“Mankind will become largely a race of machine tenders.”
Today, with the AI boom that caused a global collision for warning on its development, this looks a little optimistic.
Robots are threatening even the jobs of the tenders.
Machines replacing humans in multiple industries is no news.
William Leadbeater was well-trained in his job when it was supplanted by a mechanized loom in 1830. The point is not that he wasn’t educated, but that suddenly his skills were superfluous.
“In the end, I will venture to say, it will be the destruction of the universe,” William warned.
Robotics and AI technologies have advanced so rapidly that we are now staring at a future where machines are replacing the very jobs we trained for, rendering our skills superfluous.
This is an experience awaiting more and more people.
It’s not just manual labor jobs that are being replaced by robots.
AI is replacing white-collar jobs too.
