Hubert, first and foremost, thank you for sharing such an elaborate perspective—and for bringing hope into the picture!

I’m familiar with the arguments raised by Husson and Wunsch. While heat transfer and wind-driven dynamics are indeed critical components of the AMOC, the overwhelming body of evidence—including paleoceanographic data and contemporary observations—underscores the destabilizing impact of freshwater influx. These mechanisms aren’t mutually exclusive; rather, they interact, and dismissing freshwater’s role risks oversimplifying the complexity of ocean circulation.

Simulations aren’t perfect, but they’re grounded in empirical data and continually refined. This is a necessary wake-up call when the stakes are existential. We need robust debate, yes—but paired with urgent action, not complacency.

So, once again, thanks for your constructive, compounding comment!!!
