Hi there Paulina!
Arson can certainly play a role, but in California, more than 90% of wildfires are sparked by human activity, and many are linked to common activities like discarded cigarettes, power lines, and sparks from equipment. While surveillance of known arsonists is part of the strategy, the real issue here is the broader, systemic climate crisis that is creating the conditions for fires to spread uncontrollably. It's not just about one spark—it’s about a landscape primed for disaster, year-round.
