From Constant Failing to Finding Purpose: A Journey of Self-Discovery
Sometimes the things we take for granted are actually what sets us apart from others
I am sitting at my desk, staring blankly at the computer screen. I just read an article asking, “What do you think you’re in the top 0.1% of the world at?”. My initial reaction was to respond with “nothing” — quite a humble answer for someone who used to think he was better than anyone in anything. Then came a feeling of being devastated or discouraged by life and its lesson. And then came the moment of reflection that would take me back in time and finally arrive at a concrete answer.
After years of wandering the globe, working odd jobs, and telling false truths to my inner self, I was back home.
I was living trapped in the populated alley of lost souls and future uncertainty. No matter what I tried, I couldn’t seem to find a way out.
The first false step was Med school. Coming out of high school as a straight-A student, I was incapable of dealing with failure. And failing I did. To the point that I hid the fact of quitting school for almost 2 years. Not even my best friends knew this. I would fake going to classes and just sit in the park reading books for hours, overwhelmed by the ginormous snowball of lies…
