Steve Jobs had always been an enigmatic figure, even in death.
But on this day, he came down from Tech-Heaven, wearing a robe and flip flops, ready to impart some wisdom to his heir.
The heir had been struggling with finding a way to innovate. They had hit a wall, and nothing seemed to be working. It was as if they had lost their spark.
Steve Jobs could see the frustration on their face and decided to approach them. “Hey there, what’s the problem? Why the long face?” he asked.
The heir sighed and replied, “We just can’t seem to find a way to innovate. We’ve hit a wall.”
Steve Jobs chuckled, “Oh, I see. You think you need to find a new angle, a new widget, a new gizmo to innovate.”
The heir nodded, “Yes, exactly! We need something new and fresh.”
Steve Jobs put his arm around the heir and said, “Let me tell you something, my friend. Innovation is not about finding a new thing. It’s about connecting the dots, seeing things in a new light. It’s about having a range of knowledge.”
The heir was curious, “Range of knowledge? What do you mean?”
